PENNSYLVANIA – Brett Arney, senior from Phoenixville Area High School, made his future evident Wednesday, February 4, 2015, by signing his NLI (National Letter of Intent). February 4th marks the first day that high school seniors could sign scholarship papers for the following sports: Football, Men and Women’s Soccer, Water polo (Mens’ only), and more. The National Letter of Intent is a binding agreement between the student-athlete and a college, by which the student-athlete agrees to attend the college for one academic year.
Arney, 2nd Base, will be looking to continue his academic career majoring in Business Management at Penn State Harrisburg and his athletic career playing Baseball. Arney helps coach kids at Diamond Dreams Academy and Kimberton Youth Athletic League (KYAL). When asked why he chose Penn State Harrisburg, he said “I chose PSU-Harrisburg because I love Coach Bown and the campus. Getting a chance to play right away is great and the education is excellent. I expect to excel on the field and in the classroom. I’m looking forward to it and to making great memories.” When asked to reflect on his high school season/ career, Brett commented, “I love Phoenixville baseball and am proud to be a Phantom! We are a close group and my teammates and coaches have made my career memorable”.
Jack Sturgeon who is the Head Baseball Coach at Phoenixville Area High School had this to say about Arney:
“Brett has come a long way in our program and has been the ultimate team player. He came up during our playoff run and helped us in a lot of different ways. Last year, we asked him to become an outfielder so that we get his bat in the line-up and he went out there and did a great job while still having to fill-in at different infield positions. During the off-season, Brett has worked hard to improve and has also taken over being one of our key senior leaders. I am confident that Brett will take his great work ethic with him to Penn State Harrisburg and enjoy success both in the classroom and on the field that he has had here at Phoenixville.”
Congratulations to Brett on advancing your academic and athletic career at the next level. All of us at DigitalSports wish you luck!
